Behind the scenes of the unique and inspiring event that celebrates student and graduates’ talents each year, there is an incredibly talented and hardworking digital team whose role is to create and share all the catwalk and backstage insights on Graduate Fashion Week’s digital platforms. Giving GFW followers a peek into what was going on inside Truman Brewery provided the digital team, and capturing the large scale event in it's entirety, from the make up touch up's backstage to the VIP lounge, makes the experience both one of learning and of meeting new people.

The GFW18 digital team was made up of dedicated creatives, specialising in photography, social media, writing, graphic design and illustration. The collaboration of a group of diligent creatives resulted in content that captured Graduate Fashion Week’s admiration and celebration of students and graduates.

We asked some of the Graduate Fashion Week 2018 digital team to tell us all about their experience.

“I really enjoyed Graduate Fashion Week, it was full on at times but was such a rewarding experience and an amazing opportunity to meet people, gain contacts and work with a great team!”

“Working with GFW was an amazing chance to experience the behind the scenes of a large scale fashion event. While it was challenging at times, it was also incredibly fun getting to work with other professionals in the field of fashion.”

“Graduate Fashion Week was a brilliant opportunity to meet new people, and practice journalism in the fast paced fashion industry which was an incredible experience. I feel very lucky that I got to be a part of an amazing event by reporting on it, that helps many young graduates get into their dream industry and one I hope to be a part of one day.”

“I really enjoyed working as part of the digital team and learning about the professional environment along with enjoying what Graduate Fashion Week had to offer!”

“The highlight of my Graduate Fashion Week experience was having the opportunity to meet and work alongside a team of incredibly talented people. I chose to work for GFW because of their unique and inspiring approach to celebrating student and graduates' talents. As well as gaining vital writing experience, I have developed professional skills that I don't have the opportunity to develop on my university course.”

Rosie Smith, Digital Writer

“After attending last year's GFW as an aspiring photographer having just started out as a freelancer, I was honoured to be on the digital team this year capturing atmosphere shots, street style, VIPs and getting backstage pictures of the award winners. My highlight of GFW this year was getting to photograph Diane Von Furstenberg when she arrived on the final day for judging - I loved watching the students faces light up when they saw her browsing their stands! I really enjoyed working with everyone on the team and it was a wonderful experience to be part of this year's Graduate Fashion Week.”

Stefan Jakubowski, Photographer

“Graduate Fashion Week was a great way for me to get an insight into what happens at these events, to get a different insight into the fashion world and also to meet a great team of people.”
