De Montfort University opened up there dmu2019mashup show with part one. The show consisted of sixteen looks from fifteen designers, featuring everything from back to front blazers to delicate satin dresses made from durable plastic.
Part two opened with Siobhan Farrell, who’s knitwear collection was an explosion of purples, reds and yellows. Details included giant knotted headpieces inspired by English and Filipino culture.
Hollie Mobbs’ school-inspired collection included a punk rework of a uniform. Details included lazer cut armour with ‘prefect’ written on it. The bundled and layered pieces rebelled against the conformity of schools.
Jean-Clemintina Zirpolo used the shapes of her own eczema alongside holographic glitter vinyl in her collection.
Phoebe Hope Lister gave us an army-green ‘bootcamp’ collection. Multiple combat pockets, layered nets and thick padding made up her pieces.
Jadesola Payne’s ‘britico’ collection featured baseball jackets and monochrome colours. Details included masks and mesh fabrics playing on gender codes.
Closing the show was Emily Vernum’s thick, felt power coats with multiple cutouts. Details included spray painted heeled boots.
