Q&A

FASHION MARKETING AWARD | NUALA CONVERY | NORTHUMBRIA UNIVERSITY

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE NAMED AN AWARD WINNER?

Amazing! It was such a great experience! I loved talking with the judges about my project.  My tutors and my classmates were so supportive to me; they all cheered and gave me a group hug when I came back with the Fashion Marketing Award, and I started crying. It was all very emotional.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE GFW?

A mixture of 'general life admin', contact with job opportunities, and having a much-needed laugh with all my university friends! I went to Zante the week after GFW; it was hilarious and great to relax after all that hard work.  Also just back from visiting my best mate in Kendal with the rest of my university group in tow, we drove over from Newcastle - Road Trip!

WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES FOR THE FUTURE?

Keep developing myself as a creative/designer/fashion marketer, give the skills that I already have into something I love and hopefully earn money from it!  I would LOVE to actually set up the brand I made for my final major project, but I’m also keen to develop my skills under a brand that I admire. I'm going back home to Belfast mid July for a month or two, but then plan to move back to England to work.

HAS BEING INVOLVED WITH GFW LEAD TO ANYTHING ELSE?

Yes it's such a great place to network with like minded people, I had a job interview and offer the day after GFW finished, I've also been in contact with some PR companies who are interested in representing my FMP brand, 'FEM. Fatale'.

WHEN DID YOU FIRST HEAR ABOUT GFW?

GFW was a big factor when I was looking for degree courses to take my studies further into fashion, I was glad Northumbria had a stand there every year.
