Head around the world with us every Wednesday as we launch 'A Day At My International Fashion Institute'! For the next six weeks, our Instagram stories are being taken over by one of our universities around the world. If you don’t already follow us, ensure you do, on @officialgfw, as this is not something you will want to miss!
We begun with with LISAA (L’Institut Supérieur des Arts Appliqués) in Paris, France. LISAA is a French private higher education establishment that specialises in applied arts. Based in the capital of fashion, training its students in fashion and textile design. With more than 1000 alumni, whom have joined major fashion houses in Paris, such as Céline, Dior, Balenciaga, Saint-Laurent, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy.
They gave us an insight into the University, the studios they are working in, collections that are been produced and a sneak preview into the lectures and seminars. And not to forget a look at life around Paris! It was a great start to the take over and will have us all lusting to jump on the next plane for a long weekend in the city of love! Today, Wednesday, 11th April, we are going to the United States of America with The New School Parsons. We will be going straight to the heart of Fifth Avenue, New York to see the Parsons School of Fashion! Parsons has educated generations of amazingly talented illustrious designers and today leads the global industry through innovation.
They are going to be taking over the Instagram to show us the students at work, what their university looks like and the amazing studio space they have. We are hoping that we will get a sneak preview of the Empire State building and maybe end the day in the breath-taking Times Square!
On Wednesday 18th, we are taking a virtual trip to India with the Pearl Academy. They are situated right in the centre of New Delhi, where we will be attending the Fashion School. The stunning building in which the students learn will be sure to take your breath away. We get the chance to follow the students around for the day and see what life is like in India.
Be ready for Wednesday 2nd May, when we have Academia Costume & Moda from Italy taking over! Situated within the historical heart of Rome with 50 years of Excellency in the fields of fashion and costume design this is a journey any aspiring fashion designer will love to go on. We will get a sneak peek into the historical library and the excellent new fabric recourse library as well as getting to see the beautiful town.
On Wednesday 9th May, our Instagram is jetting off to Taiwan with Shih Chien University. This university combines theoretical learning with important practical skills and design development. Also voted as the “Best Design Programs’ in the world by US Business Week, this is a university we can’t wait to spend a day with. We will be looking at how the students learn and the teaching methods they get taught. With previews of Taiwan, a hope to see some of the Chinese temples and stunning mountain terrain.
We then spend our last week, Wednesday 16th May in Japan with the Marronnier College of Fashion Design. We will be visiting the most traditional fashion college in Japan. They will be taking over the Instagram for the day where they will be taking us on an everyday view in the life of one of their innovative students. This is such a fantastic place for us to end our international take-over and I’m sure we will all be left with the holiday-blues feeling!
