Liverpool John Moores University has a long and inimitable heritage dating back to 1825. Their ethos of pushing the boundaries was demonstrated through the Fashion Design and Communication graduates’ catwalk.
Beginning with a video of observing everyday movements and sounds, including car, bus, and merry-go-rounds drew the audience in immediately. The show was called SPAM and featured the models with black or white paint line across their face. From the summer wear to knitwear, the catwalk featured a wide variety of designs.
With constant upbeat music, graduates showcased vibrant and extravagant creations. Jade Moule featured syringe earrings, with a sterile style of clean gloves and white garments. The catwalk featured a juxtaposing of fabrics, combined with a multitude of colours. Using objects as accessories was a trend seen multiple times throughout the catwalk with Heather Rowland showcasing a rubber chicken attached to trousers.
From reinventing the crocs to cloud prints the catwalk showed it all. Recycled fabrics were seen in Jessica Forber’s designs, represented by tin can lids, white bags and paper trousers.
