Graduate Fashion Foundation is honoured to announce it will be supported by Samsung KX for the 2020 Fashion Innovation Award. Our awards have always been an important part of who we are as a foundation, allowing us to highlight the very best in graduating talent and award excellence.

For students, Graduate Fashion Week is the pinnacle of their academic life. They all work tirelessly towards being showcased in front of the industry (and their family!) with the possibility of winning one of the prestigious awards that celebrate the students work. With many of their university fashion shows cancelled, the 2020 year group have been left bitterly disappointed and unsure of how their degrees will conclude. Therefore, finding alternative platforms to showcase the incredible talent of tomorrow has been critical.

Innovation Award Nominee

As part of this, we are delighted that we will be working with Samsung KX to host online nominations for the Graduate Fashion Foundation Fashion Innovation Award, with the possibility of a physical celebration later this year at its spectacular venue in London’s Coal Drops Yard.

As Samsung KX is London’s Home of Innovation, we are excited to celebrate work with a refreshing and innovative direction with ground-breaking thinking that the UK and Samsung KX is renowned for. This incredible space that celebrates culture and innovation could not be more suited to showcase and celebrate the talent of tomorrow. Graduate Fashion Week is extremely excited to be working with Samsung KX and celebrate the exceptional BA fashion talent we have here in the UK.

The Innovation Award was introduced to the Graduate Fashion Foundation Award roster in 2018 and has been created to more fully embrace the excellent innovative work found on university members courses, who do not meet the minimum stated entry criteria of the catwalk awards e.g. may only produce one – three outfits, or products, or produce a documented niche outcome, that reflects their curriculum design.

The winning work must provide a refreshing and innovative direction to the following pathways: Fashion Product, Fashion Commentary/Research, Fashion Promotion or Fashion Image. It should illustrate ground-breaking thinking that the UK is renowned for. The work will be judged on the following criteria of: visionary thinking, authenticity, resourcefulness, creative enquiry, pioneering influencers of the future, innovation by an individual who is leading the way and an inspiring voice.

The Graduate Fashion Foundation Awards are open to final year students on courses listed under the membership of our Member University only. Students cannot nominate themselves, all nominations are submitted via course leaders only. All entries for the award will be reviewed by an industry judge.
