Recently, we ran a social media competition, offering the opportunity to win tickets to the Christopher Bailey's final show as Creative Director at Burberry. Four students from the University of Rochester were the lucky winners of the tickets, and accompanied by Managing and Creative Director of Graduate Fashion Week, Martyn Roberts, headed to the rainbow themed show on Saturday 17th February.

Here, one of the students, Sophie Elliott, talks about her experience at the show,  the political importance of the rainbow theme and how being surrounded by famous faces felt.

Being given the chance to attend the February 2018 Burberry show was an incredible once in a lifetime opportunity. The excitement surrounding the event was overpowering, with social media posts from every publication eagerly waiting to see the new collection, one that was in support of three LGBTQ charities.

Adwoa Aboah opening the show to Cara Delevigne closing it, with astounding light displays the show highlighted the immense skill and talent within the fashion industry. Countless celebrities and VIP’s were in attendance from Alexa Chung, Kate Moss, Idris Elba and Matt Smith, the drinks reception after gave me the serial experience of meeting a few whilst being offered (and drinking) champagne.

My favourite memory from the show is the support the Burberry team are showing for the LGBTQ community through the use of rainbow designs within their iconic print, showing the acceptance and praise of the community, a truly impressive last show for Christopher Bailey and an experience I will cherish forever.
