There’s something in the water at the Edinburgh College of Art — the largest and oldest art school in Scotland — which took out a host of awards and runners up at GFW19. So what is it that makes the school and its graduates so highly regarded? We spoke to Mal Burkinshaw, ECA’s Programme Director of Fashion at the School of Design, as well as judges who picked the winning graduates, to hear their thoughts
The Best Of Show happens every year on the last day of Graduate Fashion Week, where the best collections from the whole week, across both UK and International universities, gather on one stage. Top industry and media members and professionals fight for the show’s tickets as it truly condenses GFW’s vast talents into its most concentrated, elite few.
A few weeks ago we held our Graduate Fashion Week photo shoot where we got to see eight of our graduates’ designs come to life with models and influencers wearing them. Given that many of our alumni go on to be some of the biggest names in fashion, we thought they deserved no one less than the renowned photographer Damian Foxe to shoot their designs.
