Meet Mercedes Benson, a multi-hyphenate creative working in the music industry who is a DJ, brand partnerships manager, social enterprise founder and influencer. Mercedes sat down with us at the GFW Talent of Tomorrow shoot to discuss how she got into, and how she balances her various jobs, and why she’s passionate about supporting young BAME talent into the industry.
We caught up with designer and alumni of Birmingham City University Elina Pagett, to find out about her aspiring journey since showcasing her beauty pageant inspired collection at GFW17. Now working as a designer for H&M in their home country of Sweden, Elina fills us in with all the wonderful opportunities that encouraged and assisted her move to Stockholm, and beginning a career in her dream role.
Recently returned from a three month trip around America, Megan Evans, is ready to enter the industry. As the winner of the YKK Accessories Award at Graduate Fashion Week 2017, her garments have been on display in the YKK showrooms in Shoreditch. The colourful embroidery and artistic illustration on the pieces makes seeing them up close, worthwhile the trip to East London. Her thirst and energy for fashion, art, design and sports is clear, and contagious. We caught up with the emerging designer to hear her thoughts about the changing industry, where her future lies and carving a space for art and fashion to collide.
